TOGETHER NOT OTHER: WEAVING OUR STORIES THROUGH WRITING
Presenters: Margaret Rhee & The Rice Kings

Through this workshop, participants will begin by creating short writing pieces that tell their own individual stories. Next, we work together to process individually the politics, liberation, and possibilities of “collective autobiography” for queer identified Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. This workshop will relate how our identities and creative endeavors relate to the political importance of activism through personal narratives. Participants in this workshop will ultimately be part of the process of creating a mural/collage for the conference.

It's been a little over a year when The Rice Kings first hit the scene and look at us now!!! Uh... yeah. Actually, we do want an excuse to party and thank all y'alls who've supported us through all our performances - from that funny debut at the White Horse to rockin' out on the huge bed at Supperclub, s'been a pretty darned good year, dontcha think?

So please SAVE the DATE! (the date is in trouble! save it! save it!) Uh.. yeah - but we are ready to celebrate our first birthday with you on the evening of

Great Bowls of Rice! (unofficial title)

ID Fest in LA!

We're excited to know that our official documentarian Margaret Rhee's film "All of Me" has been accepted and is showing at the ID Film Fest in the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles! Find out more here. Please note that well, the synopsis describes the film as a ' a group of women friends in the Bay Area who try to create an Asian American “drag king troupe.”' First of all, we don't all identify as "women" and second, we all didn't necessarily know each other before the filming of the documentary. Harumphhh! In any case, we're happy for Margaret! Tell all your L.A. friends, why dontcha?
